The UNLV Higher Education Alum of the Year award recognizes the achievements of outstanding alumni whose personal lives, professional accomplishments, and service to the community exemplifies the mission and values of the Higher Education program.
The award is given to an alumnus/a who has a demonstrated history of outstanding service to the field, program, UNLV, and/or the community in which they reside.
The UNLV Higher Education program established the following minimum criteria for eligibility:
- The applicant must have graduated with a master's and/or doctorate degree from the UNLV Higher Education program
- Master of Education – Higher Education or Educational Leadership (emphasis in Higher Education)
- Doctor of Education – Educational Leadership (emphasis in Higher Education)
- Doctor of Philosophy – Higher Education or Educational Leadership (emphasis in Higher Education)
- The applicant cannot be an elected official during an election year for their race/office
- The applicant cannot be a current member of the chapter alumni board or in a leadership position within the College of Education
To be considered for the award, submit a 1-2 page nomination letter that describes notable accomplishments in the nominee's personal and professional lives and/or service to the community. A resume or CV should accompany the nomination letter.
The honoree for this award will be selected by a committee from nominations received by March 28, 2025. All nominations will remain active/in consideration for three years.
